HERALDIC ARTWORK for OTHER CRAFTSMEN

Heraldic artwork can be produced for other craftsmen to work from. Each trade has its own particular requirements when reproducing a coat of arms. Thanks to years of professional training and working alongside such specialists I have an understanding of their needs. Some require line artwork of differing line thicknesses, while others will produce a better result if the field, for example, is drawn black to leave the charges white. Yet more need full colour artwork painted according to the eventual size of the commission, whether a 20mm high print on stationery or a fully digitised image computer cut from vinyl several feet high.

Gold leaf, aluminium leaf and enamel on a 25mm thick English oak plaque. Produced to the specification of Anthony Wood who supplied a drawing to copy. This sign outside the Town Hall in Bournemouth was cut from Purbeck stone and carved to a full size plan drawn in my workshop.Bournemouth Council as line artwork. This pure line
drawing was intended for use by engravers and similar craftsmen as well as the occasional use for printing. Most of their printing was done using a different form of this drawing. See LINE ARTWORK section of this website for another example of these arms.
