LINE ARTWORK

Line artwork is useful for printing on stationery. Before the upsurge in printing on home computers it was considered vulgar amongst armigers to print personal stationery in colour as it was seen as a display of wealth. Nowadays this is not the case but many prefer to use black and white artwork for aesthetic reasons. It is usually drawn on A4 card but a larger size may be used for complex arms.

It is also usable by other craftsmen such as silverware and glass engravers.

I will need:-

  • The sizes you expect to reproduce the work. (This effects the amount of detail I incorporate and the line thickness.)

A shield and motto as line artwork for printing on stationery. With thanks to Russell Wilkin. An example of armorial stationery. Such a simple design of crest and address on a card is extremely versatile, here used as a compliment slip. With thanks to Robert Harrison. The arms of a modern English Liberal Peer. Even a full achievement can be drawn simply enough so
that all the important details remain visible when reduced to a size required by printers.Bournemouth Council as blocked in line artwork. This format was used extensively for printing purposes as being bolder than a pure line drawing. Here they used it as wallpaper for the back of bus tickets.
