HOUSE SIGNS

House signs incorporating your full coat of arms, shield, crest or heraldic badge. They are cut from hardwood, WBP ply or exterior MDF and finished in paint schemes which have a 7 year life expectancy, the longest on the paint market. I was a City and Guilds trained signwriter and have worked with paint all my life, so I produce house signs which are as long lived as it is possible for them to be. A large shop sign I built in MDF in the early 1980s in a position exposed to sea air was still there in 2006. Although the paints had become matt with age there was no rot, the paint film was still sound with no cracking or discolouration. As the paints were only expected to last up to 7 years in sheltered conditions this was down to the care taken in applying the paint. The shop keeper is delighted!

A simple house sign in an Essex village. Tom’s Coach House was cut from a single piece of 18mm WBP ply to mimic a top frame. As it was to be screwed to a wall a moulding was routed into the remaining edges to give a further framed appearance. This all saved going to the added expense of a carved hardwood frame.Examples of more
