COMMERCIAL HERALDIC SIGNS

Heraldic signs for commercial or civic use. Signs can be designed and built from traditional materials. This is the core of my career as I was trained at Hammersmith College as a signwriter in the 1980s. Signs now take up a very small part of my time as I am so busy with heraldry and for this reason I will only consider commercial signage which includes heraldry in some form.

A fascia sign with the badges of the Royal Armoured Corps, new and old. Bovington Camp. The ubiquitous group of Japanese tourists posed with a museum guide below this sign within minutes of the scaffolding being removed! The badge of the British Army’s School of Recruiting used as a sign at the main entrance to their offices.Large
painted and gilded sign in 75mm thick mahogany.Traditional hanging signs can be done from design, through construction and painting, to delivery. The ironwork can also be designed and constructed locally as part of the commission, as was done here. The philanthropic Mr Sexey built a hospital in a Wiltshire village which still stands today.

A hardwood framed MDF sign ready for collection. The arms are those of Paulett, the original owners of the house.
