CHURCH HERALDRY
The vast repository of heraldry within British and continental churches is generally protected from the elements but can still deteriorate over centuries. It is sometimes possible to repair rotten wood and treat old timber to preserve it. Lightly damaged paintings can be restored while badly deteriorated pieces are sympathetically repainted.

Old stone carvings can be repainted and gilded.

For each project I work from a series of close up photographs to ensure my work matches the original and I study the heraldry, style and techniques used at the time of its painting.
Timber, metal and stone can be worked on. Other materials such as canvas, fabric and glass are the province of other specialists.
I am happy to work in close liaison with a restoration team or the clerk of works. When necessary I will schedule my work to fit in with your fundraising.
